“Love of Art & Murder is a fascinating tale...an intriguing plot with plenty of action and twists and turns. The characters are wonderfully developed, and the descriptive nature of the writing transports you into the heart of where glamour and glitz meet a gritty underbelly of greed and deception.…you will love this one.”
5-Star Review by Anne-Marie Reynolds, Readers' Favorite
The prominent artist Marilyn Maroney’s life-sized sculpture of Athena, the warrior goddess, stood on the third-floor balcony of the Dahlia Art Gallery. Guests numbering 300 attended the art reception and sauntered between the gallery and the Velvet Muse, a performance venue. The following day, Georgi Algarve is sweeping the front sidewalk of his Vinho Verde Wine Bar, but when he looks up, he lets out a blood-curdling scream. His beautiful friend Marilyn was dead, impaled by Athena’s spear.
“Love of Art & Murder is an intelligent suspense thriller that revolves around the notoriously secretive and sometimes ruthless multiplicity of what the public knows as the art world. One of the best genre mysteries I’ve read...”

Roxanne discovers a wealthy wine connoisseur dead in her city garden with a plant stuffed in his mouth. She determines it is the deadly yew!
The setting is in the peaceful wine regions by Long Island Sound and New London, the City of Steeples. A tightly mottled city of grand architecture, with labyrinth streets and a unique history dating back hundreds of years. This beachside community is held hostage by a curiously stealthy villain in this modern-day tale.
The sleuthing duo of Roxanne, an expert gardener, and Georgi, a flamboyant wine aficionado, are comical escapades,
but are unnerving for Detective Morrisson throughout the investigation.
He juggles multiple suspects, including a Long Island widow, a goth librarian, and three doppelgangers who look like the villain.
With humor and intrigue, Roses, Wine & Murder will keep you entertained in this lively romp through posh vineyards and city streets! Enjoy!

Author Notes:
When I was young, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's, Sherlock Holmes fascinated me with his analytical methods utilizing intricate details to solve the crime before anyone else! I then enjoyed being scared by the intrigue of Alfred Hitchcock's, The Birds, Rear Window, and Psycho.
I loved Agatha Christie's character's Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. They captured me with their uniquely eccentric personalities and wonderful ways of deduction.
A good murder-mystery novel is a thrilling puzzle, a maze for the mind to wander and ask; What is going on? Add in unusual character antics and the drama comes alive! That is why as a reader, it's fun to try and solve a murder from the comfort of a soft chair.
Dan Brown is another favorite writer of mine. He adds the dimension of history, architecture, and a strong sense of place. Often, we race along a blood-stained trail he has laid out in fine detail. The scenes and characters draw us deep into his stories. He knows how to hit that, I can't put it down, sweet spot for me. I am inspired and only aspire to the level of his craft.
Research Notes:
My love of nature, photography, and writing allowed me to visit many locations I may not have wandered into. A wonderful surprise was the manicured beauty of the vineyards. As I photographed scenes to capture the ambiance of my story, I saw families picnicking and enjoying an afternoon snack. The parents shared a bottle of wine and the children sipped on lemonade and chased butterflies.
It was so much fun to insert the wine knowledge and food-pairings I learned from the experts into Georgi's character. And the world of poisonous plants into Roxanne's research, utilizing my background in gardening. These examples make a story more interesting and lead us into learning about the villainous ways of a devilish character too.
Thank you for taking the time to visit and I hope you enjoy reading Roses, Wine & Murder, and my next novel, Love of Art & Murder - From Mystic to the City of Steeples is available!
Cheers! Rose🌹
